Wine Tasting - Feb.27
Bistro 39 Hosts Wine Tasting
February 27th
3:30-5:30
The cost is $20.
The featured wineries for this tasting are Cabot Vineyards, Kuyam Wines and Saint Helena Road/Maier Family.
Cabot Vineyards is a small production, organic estate winery from the Klamath River Valley of Humboldt County. John & Kimberly Cabot have been handcrafting rich, complex wines since 2001.
Kuyam Wines is a family project from Dave Corey of Core Wines. These wines are made in a unique vineyard driven style to produce complex and satisfying wines. This Santa Barbara County micro-producer offers very distinctive flavors, textures and aromas from fruit grown in the Santa Barbara Highlands and Sierra Madre Mountains.
Saint Helena Road/Maier Family Wines, from their estate vineyards located on the west side of Spring Mountain, create tremendously expressive Bordeaux blends. Winemaker Mike Hirby produces blends from the grapes of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc that offer a kaleidoscope of flavors, aromas and colors.
We will be pouring the following wines:
Cabot Vineyards:
2006 Syrah Kimberly’s Vineyard - rich, fresh, clean, robust flavors of fruit, spice and bacon
2006 Syrah Aria’s Vineyard - black fruits, crushed rocks and menthol; rich mouthfeel with a wonderful, decadent finish
2006 Cabernet Sauvignon - bright red fruits, cassis, cigar box and ripe tannins are featured in this well balanced wine
2005 Klamath Cuvee - blue and red fruits, minerals and rusticity show in this well made, interesting and tasty blend. An incredible bang for the buck!
Kuyam Wines:
2006 Thirteen Moons - full bodied red blend, well balanced and easy drinking
2008 Sauvignon Blanc - crisp, clean citrus flavors and a healthy dose of minerality, a very satisfying wine
Saint Helena Road/Maier Family:
2005 Roy J Maier Cabernet Sauvignon - classic aromas and flavors of raspberry, clove, cassis and chocolate; full bodied and rich
All wines poured at the event will be available for purchase.
To continue the tradition, you are welcome to bring a special bottle of wine to share. We ask that you refrain from opening this bottle until the conclusion of the tasting at 5:30. At that time, feel free to enjoy the wine in the lounge where the event takes place, at the bar or in the restaurant. There will be no corkage fee in any of these locations.
