Napa Cabs Tasting March 13

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

Wine Tasting March 13th from 3:30-5:30.
Featuring Napa Valley Cabernets made by some of the hottest winemakers in the business! The featured wineries for this tasting are
12c Wines – made by Mike Smith
Burly Wines – made by Massimo & Mario Monticelli
Emerson Brown Wines – made by Keith Emerson & Brian Brown
Vice Versa Wines – made by Paul Hobbs

The cost is $20.

12c Wines is a single vineyard, 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the prestigious Vineyard Georges III in Rutherford. Created by winemaker Mike Smith, the assistant winemaker for highly sought after wines from Schrader, Rivers-Marie, Maybach and Outpost, this wine represents the characteristics, reputation and quality of the Rutherford Bench at a wonderful price. This is the inaugural vintage of 12c, and with only 10 cases available in Southern California, we are thrilled to have it!

Burly Wines produces a single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from 9½ acres of Simpkins Ranch in the Coombsville area of Napa Valley. Hand crafted by Massimo & Mario Monticelli at a small boutique winery, this wine achieves a wonderful expression of the fruit with as little outside influence as possible, allowing the unique terroir of the area to shine through. As with 12c, this is extremely limited, as there are only 10 cases of the 2005 vintage available!

Emerson Brown Wines is a small production Napa Valley project from two talented guys behind the high scoring wines at Vineyard 29. Keith (Emerson) is the Director of Winemaking & Brian (Brown) is the former enologist now at Round Pond. These wines showcase the fruit, maintain the natural acidity and preserve those delicate aromatics through very gentle, meticulous handling from grape to bottle. The vineyard is in the heart of Oakville, nestled amongst Dalla Valle, Rudd and Backus, with ideal red soils and old vines bringing a unique character to the wine.

Vice Versa Wines creates
limited production Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon which contrasts valley floor (To-Kalon Vineyard) and mountain (Stagecoach Vineyard) fruit. Each vintage, winemaker Paul Hobbs blends the fruit from these two legendary vineyards to create distinctive wines that showcase the best of both sites.

We will be pouring the following wines:

12c Wines:

2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Vineyard Georges III – well balanced, full bodied wine that coats the mouth with richness and elegance

Burly Wines:

2005 Cabernet Sauvignon – big and rich, with excellent balance & acidity, a truly elegant wine with a tremendous future

Emerson Brown Wines:

2007 Cabernet Sauvignon – wonderful bouquet, excellent richness and incredibly pure fruit, a terrific expression of single vineyard Oakville Cabernet

Vice Versa Wines:

2006 Le Petit Vice Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley – beautiful aromas, a deep palate with great finesse and a long, powerful finish

Stop by, taste through a wide variety of outstanding wines that provide incredible quality for the price, and have a great time! All wines poured at the event will be available for purchase.
